What Are the Akashic Records, Really? (And Why You Might Already Be Tapping Into Them)

A blue collage of spiritual images like 111, two soulds, love, a butterfly, and a blue box with the text what are the akashic records really

If you’ve ever heard someone mention the Akashic Records and thought, “Wait… what the heck is that?” Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.

The Akashic Records are often described as a metaphysical archive. A vast energetic field that holds the story of every soul: past, present, and all possible futures. Imagine a soul-level hard drive that doesn’t just store your personal experiences, but the thoughts, emotions, lessons, and patterns your soul has ever moved through across lifetimes. And not only your records, but the collective records as well. Some even believe they have the galactic records of every galaxy and being in it.

And here's the wild part: you don’t need to be a psychic or spiritual guru to access it.

I believe that healing happens when you remember who you really are, and the Akashic Records are one of the most powerful ways to remember. They’re not about fortune-telling or bypassing the work. They're about reconnecting with the deeper truth of your journey, so you can understand your patterns, release old wounds, and consciously choose a new path.

So how does it work?

Every soul has its own “Record”, an energetic book or blueprint. When you open the Records (through meditation, prayer, or guided techniques), you’re tapping into your soul’s highest self and guidance system. It’s not about getting all the answers perfectly. It’s about accessing a more loving, zoomed-out perspective.

Think: less “Should I text him back?” and more “Why do I keep repeating this pattern- and how can I heal the root of it?”

You may receive messages through words, images, memories, or just a strong sense of knowing. And if you’ve ever had a moment where a deep truth just dropped into your body out of nowhere? That might’ve been the Records already whispering to you.

There are many who believe you need to say a specific prayer before entering the records, and this is a great way to get grounded and enter with a heart full of gratitude. But others believe our guides sit within the same energetic frequency as the records, or using the records to guide us, and therefore when we meditate & connect with them , they are giving us access to the same guidance. My personal opinion is that you should do what works for you, do your own research, and come to your own conclusion. But hopefully this gives you more information in that journey :)

Why I love using the Akashic Records in healing work

The Akashic Records are not just about soul-level insight. They’re an invitation to rewrite the narrative. When you access the Records, they often uncover the origin story of your self-doubt, fear, or people-pleasing, and begin to understand it with compassion instead of judgment. By accessing past lives you can learn repeating patterns that you carry at a soul-level, get insights into what you’ve done in the past that maybe spark joy in your soul in this life, and remember who you are, which allows you to start to de-condition the layers you’ve built that are inauthentic to yourself.

From that place within yourself, healing happens.

Final thoughts: You are your own best guide.

The Akashic Records won’t “fix” you because you were never broken to begin with. But they can hold a mirror up to your brilliance and remind you of what your soul came here to learn, embody, and become.

Whether you’ve been curious for years or are just now hearing about them, know this: the Records are not out of reach. They’re a resource, a remembrance, and a powerful tool in your healing toolkit. Be patient with yourself and kind. Entering the records is not something that necessarily happens on your first go. There are many Akashic Records readers who can do a reading for you if you are interested in accessing them now, or help you learn how to access them. Or there are many good Akashic Records meditations on Spotify. My personal favorite so far is by Josephine Hardman, PhD linked here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/197rQ9L2OGbiaSkgRSPh0L?si=80401aa7b79d426d
